My Story
I was born in the beautiful and bustling City of Durham, NC. It was there where I was cultured in the arts, from beginning under the guidance of my artistic mother and father. Aside from being occupied with musical disciplines, I would spend my past times painting on canvases, sketching on pads, and reading books. Upon being accepted into an art school in Washington, DC, I relocated to Bladensburg, MD to study trombone at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. It was on the metro rail systems, from Cheverly to Dupont Circle, is where I began to receive any kind of notoriety from passersby on a train, or on a bus, and I'd give away my works in exchange for acknowledging my works, since my artistic ambitions were often not seen by instructors due to the rigorous demands of jazz and classical performance and everyday life. For a while, gifting my works to interested patrons for having the time to talk to a stranger child from Durham, was a favorite private past time, that is until one day on the way back home from school, I was asked by a couple to take their picture. Nervously agreeing, because the multiple concepts of 'the value of a point in time' had been drilled into my being by both my parents and musical instructors through rigorous years of jazz and classical instruction, and in this case, it was 'a moment in time'. No director to tell life to recreate this special moment for the couple, I had to get it right the first time! I nervously line up the camera, and begin to fire away at capturing their happiness in the moment. I hand the couple back their camera and they begin to smile so magnificently that I became an addict to making families happy through photography! This focus shifting happenstance and purpose driven revelation occurred in 2007 and I've been involved in high-resolution photography, and multimedia creation and their abilities to create smiles ever since! In 2018, after enrolling and graduating from Purpose University in the same year, I was able to finally launch my purpose driven photography business that serves Black, Brown, and other vulnerable populations, however, EVERYONE IS WELCOME in finding self-love & community through imagery, and the creative arts.
